GIRLS U10

Capital Girls League Football Festival

This weeks tournament saw the most girls attending for Venceremos - 8 girls in total. We played 5 games this week and won 1 and lost 4. The girls played really well, but the score lines were against us. We played Ruislip Rangers, Hampsted, Cantelowes and My Sport 1 & 3. All the girls played really well in such cold conditions. Due to the number of teams that played this week we had rest games in between each one, but the girls spirits managed to keep themselves warm, (not sure about our shivering parents though, thanks toeveryone for coming). Tia scored our first goal of the tournament on her first game back with us and Aisling scored our second. Charlotte was so close on numerous occassions but unfortunately this week was not meant to be. All our younger members Annabel, Krissie, Lily and Millie played really well. They are taking on board the training that we have been doing and are really getting stuck into each game they play. The older girls - Charlotte, Tia, Taylor and Aisling all played really well in defence and kept the score lines as low as they did. Great tournament. Performance Rating 8.0

ST JOSEPHS 'B' 2-4 VENCEREMOS

Another great performance from the Vs which saw them away to a St Josephs side who needed results just like ourselves. From the first whistle we took the game to them with direct passing and getting into their danger area numerous times. Unfortunately Luke took a knock in the first 10 minutes but George came on and filled his role and played some lovely passes around the field. This was soon rewarded with a goal for the Vs scored by Gregg with style  1-0. It was end to end stuff and the Vs never took their foot off the pedal with all the team playing great football and Kano being denied a goal many times, with great work from the St Joes goalie and defence. It was similar pressure for our back four and Sam, James, Tashan and Ross kept great order in their defensive areas and made many crucial tackles, clearances and the cover play, a pleasure to watch. Just before the half time whistle we were caught short after an attack and St Joes made us pay 1-1. Half time talk, lets keep our formation give 100% and it should pay off. Start of second half, whistle just gone, St Joes ran through the Vs like we were sleeping tigers 2-1. The Vs knew they could get this back and pulled their socks up and attacked St Joes with some great football and within 5 minutes Gregg scored the equaliser. The Vs were not here for a draw and chased the ball down, a great pass from George to Gregg and then to Tom out wide, 25 yards out and the goalie and defender running at him, Tom released a fantastic chip shot 3-2. The Vs took some great  pressure play from St Joes and knew with 15 minutes remaining they needed security with another goal. The ball was passed around with meaning and Gregg took the opportunity and let loose for his hat-trick 4-2. With 3 minutes remaining the Vs showed their team cover play never ends and Evan put in a great shift with some decisive clearance headers. One minute left a penalty was awarded to St Joes, Rajun stood tall and wide at the ready. A penalty shot was followed by a deserved save which kept the final  score at 4-2. Well done to all the Vs a great performance. Well done to Sam who won MOM for his crucial tackles, cover play and goal line clearances in only his second match as centre back. Gregg with his hat-trick and Rajun with great commandment of his area. (Well done all the Vs, every player gave their all). Performance Rating 9.0

VENCEREMOS 0-3 PINNER ALBION

An excellent game played in a good spirit by both sets of players and an impressive performance against champions elect Pinner Albion. Indeed had we shown slightly  more belief going forward we could have achieved a better result but nonetheless all the boys should be proud of their efforts. In the first half in particular we were really impressive restricting Pinner  (who had scored at least 4 goals in all their previous league games) to just one chance.  Everyone worked tirelessly and we created good openings but couldn't apply the final pass or cross. The second half started evenly but with Pinner finding more space they took the lead when a thunderbolt was parried by Leo and their forward was first to the rebound. Almost immediately they scored a second but the boys showed tremendous spirit. Even after we missed a penalty with 10 minutes remaining our heads didn't drop and it was only shortly before full time that Pinner got their third. A harsh scoreline but the team should take great consolation from the fact that Pinner acknowledged we were the best side they had faced in the league and the boys should take confidence into their forthcoming fixtures. Performance Rating 9.0

HARLINGTON 1-5 VENCEREMOS

The Vs produced a fine display in this reverse match to resemble the scoreline against Harlington played in early November.  With Billy absent and Jordan not feeling well before the game, the Vs started without two regular players.  The Vs were very on top for much of the first half but only had one goal to show for it.  Mid-way through the half, Alex controlled the ball on the edge of the box with his back to goal and then turned to shoot the ball over the goalkeeper's head to make it 1-0. The Vs had a number of opportunities, but failed to hit the ball with any power to trouble the keeper. Jordan came on towards the end of the half and played well on the left hand side troubling their right back on a number of occasions. Just before half-time Harlington broke, and what looked to be a certain equaliser was saved well by Troy who parried the shot onto the post. Callen replaced Troy in goal for the second half, with Troy up-front leading the line.  Within a minute of the restart, Dylan persisted in chasing the ball and passed to Niall on the left whose strike made it 2-0.  He will certainly have to work on his celebratory cart-wheel for the next goal he scores! Soon after, Ronaldo found the ball in an identical position and scored a super third goal.  The Vs were passing the ball around and managing to get decent crosses in to create further chances.  Troy scored a fourth goal from a very acute angle on the left to make it 4-0.  For the last ten minutes, the Vs started relaxing and let Harlington back into the game.  Harlington started playing some fluent football and were unlucky to let in a soft goal from Sami that was fumbled into the net by the keeper.  Harlingtom scored a well taken goal towards the end of the game to make it 5-1.  This was a well deserved goal based on their display in the last 10 minutes. The Vs will have to concentrate for the full sixty minutes in the next game against a very strong Kodak side. The whole team played well, but the MOM was awarded to Alex. Performance Rating 8.0
