SATURDAY 15TH OCTOBER
GIRLS U10
Capital Girls League Football Festival

The girls played fantastically as a team this Saturday and it showed in their results. They won 3 out of their 6 games, drew 1 and lost 2 against Cantelowes. Ashling was so close to keeping her clean sheet again in goal and really did well when all that was left between the striker and goal, was Ashling. Well done again Ashling on a great tournament. Charlotte opened the scoring and came close to getting more for the team, but just couldn't reach the back of the net again. Millie and Elise were the top goal scorers with 2 a piece and Taylor got onto the score sheet with a deflection off a defender. It was a great shot. There was some great long and accurate passes between the girls which we practised before hand. The girls played Denham A, Cantelowes, Old Actonians, Hampstead and Ruislip. Performance Rating 9.5

VENCEREMOS 1-6 ST JOSEPHS 'B'

Our first league game at home we welcomed St Josephs to our ground. They had not had a great start to the season but we could not criticise. The first half started with 50/ 50 play but they caught us short at the back 3 times and finished well each time. It was 20 minutes in and it was not one way, we were passing around and our movement was great. The ball fell in their favour again and we paid the price 4-0. The half time whistle went and we had our team talk. There was nothing in this game and we knew we could pull it back with determination and communication. Into the second half we played lovely football and kept the ball. We could see all the hard work at training was coming together and was going blossom eventually. Their goalie made some great saves but we were determined, and the goal came from a great diving header from Luke our left back who had given 120% throughout the game. A couple of goals followed for them but we did play the better football. As a team we took a lot of positives from this game more than the previous games. We all realise that if we work and communicate the result will follow. The link up play was great and passing and control a pleasure to watch . Well done Luke man of the match again. Gregg and Rajun on their second appearance were an inspiration to the team. Well done all the V's. We are all proud and victory is inevitable. Keep up the good work. Performance Rating 6.0

LNER YOUTH 'B' 5-2 VENCEREMOS

The Junior Vs defensive frailties were exposed by a committed opponents who deserved their win based upon chances created. On a pitch which far too large for U12 football, LNER were 1 up virtually from the kick off then 2 up after 15 minutes. We played some decent football in patches but too often our opponents won the second ball then exploited the space behind our back 4. We pulled a goal back before the break courtesy of goal from Daniel but in the second half the same pattern emerged with us very susceptible to quick breaks. Despite some excellent saves from Glen the lead was extended and it was only in the last 10 minutes that we finally imposed ourselves the reward being a neat headed goal by Ryan. We play the same opponents in the league cup shortly when hopefully the side will do itself justice. Performance Rating 6.5

MCFA Youth U12 Cup R2
VENCEREMOS 0-14 RUISLIP RANGERS 'A'

This was a most disappointing performance against a very good, well organised Ruislip team . Although we had a few key players absent the passing game for which the team has been known was non existent, replaced instead with a kick and rush approach which was easily dealt with by a team who played with purpose and skill. Only Callen, Ollie and Fred came to the fore in the first half as the team shipped 10 goals and Ruislip could even afford the luxury of a missed penalty. For the second half Dylan went in goal and made a number of good saves while Abilash made some timely interceptions to keep the score down. We neither defended nor attacked as a team and the Ruislip goalkeeper did not have a single shot to deal with. A lot of hard practice awaits the boys. MOM Abilash for his defensive work in the second half .Performance rating 5.0

TFA CROUCH END 'B' 5-2 VENCEREMOS

The V's furthest trip so far in the soccer 7's took them to Haringey and it was relief to see most of the players there before the coach, so well done parents! On to the football and the coach had high expectations for the team playing on the best surface they had encountered so far. However it was TFA who started stronger and had most of the possession in the early stages and took a deserved lead on 10 mins. For some reason the V's struggled with the basics, not finding passes and losing out in most tackles. Krish thought he had won a penalty as he was bundled over in the box but what first looked like a signal for a spot kick turned out to be for a goal kick. No matter, V's were soon on level terms as Sam P pounced on a wayward pass and spotting the keeper out of position found the net from half way inside TFA's half. TFA bounced straight back and within 2 mins were back in front with a superb strike that went in off the bar on 20 mins. So 2-1 to TFA at the break. V's changed things around at half time and for a while they got on top and showed more of the play they are capable of. A good passing move was finished off with a great strike from Daniel that found the top corner. Unfortunately for the V's they couldn't maintain this form and TFA took advantage with two quick goals around 45 mins. A comedy of errors lead to the boys conceding a fifth on the whistle.
