SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER

U14

Harrow Youth League Division 4

PINNSTARS 'B' 8-3 VENCEREMOS

Our second league game of this season saw us away to Pinnstars (B). An established side who had been promoted last season with great results. We started well with attack on our mind and nearly scored in the first five minutes. We were against the wind and uphill and their first 2 goals were assisted with both of these elements. We worked on and passed the ball around and played better football than them. They had a number 10 who caused us all kinds of problems down the wings his speed and finish was a compliment to their side. It was 5-1 at half time as Kano had scored for us just before the whistle.  We sat down and worked out our game plan to stop their number 10 and get the goals back that were just deserved. Into the second half  we played the better football again but their number 10 scored another 3.  But hey we don't drop our heads and we came back at them and Phil scored 2 goals, both well deserved with a great finish. The final whistle went and  the score does not reflect the effort . We are pulling ourselves together as a team and the results we deserve are coming. A pleasure to watch the boys improve every week.  Well done the V's . Luke won man of the match for his commitment, his work rate is outstanding. Also well done to Gregg and goalkeeper Rajun on their first appearance.  Performance Rating 6.5

Harrow Youth League Challenge Cup 1st Round

PARKFIELD 'C' 1-5 VENCEREMOS

The Junior Vs progressed to the next round of the league cup with a well deserved win against battling opponents. The boys started quickly and took the lead with a stunning strike from Ben after a neat one two with Lewis D. We had further good openings but it was Parkfield who scored next with an excellent strike. We re-took the lead with a classy finish from Lewis D but gave our opponents too much room as half time approached. After the break we defended well when necessary with Leo assured in goal and Harmit outstanding at right back. We always looked dangerous on the break and extended our lead after great wing play from Ryan, Aaron forcing the ball over the line.  Lewis D then grabbed his hat-trick with two excellent finishes after some great interplay from the boys. Well played John who provided good organisation at the back and well done to the whole group for some very pleasing football. Performance Rating 8.5

Harrow Youth League Division 4

VENCEREMOS 1-9 GIBBONS WRECKERS

This was a most disappointing performance  from the Vs against a team we beat at the beginning of the year.  The Vs had key players missing and played the game with 10 men and at times were down to 9 men with injuries. Billy went in goal for the first time and made some decent saves early on but was let down by some poor defending when we conceded six goals in the space of 20 minutes in the first half.  The Vs did not play the fluent football that they have played all year and the Wreckers took all their chances well. Remy got a consolation goal at the end of the first half to make it 7-1. Dylan went in goal for the second had and made some very good saves to contain the score.  The Vs had a lot more possession but did not penetrate the defence and relied on long range shots.  The Wreckers managed to get 2 goals in the second half of which one was straight from a corner. Hopefully, we have a bigger squad for the next game and play the kind of football we have enjoyed for most of the year.  There were strong performances from Jordan and Billy who got the Man of the Match for the Vs. Performance Rating 5.0

Harrow Soccer Sevens Combination Division 4

VENCEREMOS 2-6 PARKFIELD 'C'

This was the boys first home game of the season and the team welcomed  Kai & George for their season debuts. The game began end to end and Sam K had a great chance to put the V's in front but shot wide. Parkfield were the first to score but the V's levelled within two minutes as Rikin cut in from the left and fired home. Parkfield took the lead again from the penalty spot after a hand ball and went on to score a third before the break. It was hard going for the V's who were out muscled by a strong Parkfield team and were punished for not clearing the ball by some clinical finishing to take a 5-1 lead. The boys kept going though and a great run and cross by James from the right found Rikin unmarked but he could only scoop the ball over the bar. Parkfield grabbed a sixth before James added a late consolation after Krish had won the ball and played a great pass. Performance Rating 6.5

U9 RED

Inter-club match

YELLOWS 2-3 ORANGES

The 'RED' team were involved in an entertaining practice match. Although the game was evenly contested the Yellows took an early lead through Mahmoud and he added a second for his team just before half time. The Oranges bounced back with two quick second half goals courtesy of Ben and George. With the game coming to an end George struck the winner with a low shot in the corner to give victory to the Oranges. Well done to all the kids who took part and a special mention to Rahul who was player of the match. Performance Rating 7.5
