RUISLIP RANGERS TOURNAMENT

U9, U11, U12

The U12's continued their pre-season with a good morning at the Ruislip Rangers 11-a-side tournament. They were undefeated in the group stage, winning two and drawing the other game conceding just one goal in the process. The boy's really didn't do themselves justice in the semi-final against a committed Gibbons Wreckers side who then only lost out to Premier side Ruislip Rangers "A" in extra time in the final. The tournament was a really decent work out with a number of boys playing together for the first time and some of the interplay in the group stage was impressive.  Performance Rating 8.5

The U11's took the big step from Soccer 7's to 11-a-side for the first time. The new look squad comprised of debutants; Remi, Alex, Callen, Milan and Sammi. The Vs started the tournament against favourites Ruislip Rangers 'A' who dominated the game.  The boys were unlucky to concede an early goal that was deflected from a corner.  The V's defended well to contain the score at 3-0 with a fine performance from Jordan in goal. The second game against Heathrow saw an improvement in the team's performance.  The V's went down 1-0 early on before Sammi passed to Dylan on the right wing who crossed for Remi to convert the equaliser.  The V's conceded shortly afterwards from another corner and two more late goals from Heathrow made it 4-1.  The scoreline did not justify the performance as Heathrow scored 4 goals from 4 attempts. The V's drew the final game against Ruislip Rangers 'C' with Troy scoring the equaliser after a through-ball from Dylan.  There were some encouraging performances in this game from Niall and Alex, but the man of the tournament for the V's was Fred for his performance in all three games.

Performance Rating 7 Squad: Jordan, Billy, Niall, Oliver (capt), Dylan, Troy, Fred, Remi, Alex, Callen, Milan and Sammi.

For the U9's, a 0-0 draw against Ruislip Rangers Aces and a 1-0 win over Acton & Ealing Whistlers proved enough to finish third in the group stage. The boys dominated against Acton and should have won comfortably hitting the woodwork twice and missing some great chances. The goal eventually came after a Sam P corner was deflected in at the near post. Progressing to the plate semi-final and up against Ruislip Rangers Blues the V's put in a good performance in a tight game which ended 0-0 after extra time. Sam P, Krish & James all scored in the penalty shoot-out and along with Daniels great save put the boys into their first final which was a great achievement. Ruislip Rangers Aces proved the hungrier team in the final and despite a great display by James in goal the Aces ran out 2-0 winners. Performance Rating 8
