SUNDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER Harrow Youth League Division 4 ST ANDREWS 7-0 VENCEREMOS
We were ready for our first league game against St Andrews which we knew were an established side that had drawn against Wealdstone away the previous week. From the whistle we attacked and for the first 15 min's were in their half. We played lovely passes around the midfield and kept possession, everyone was involved. Junior , Kano and Victor all nearly scored but the ball was adamant about not hitting their net. They scored from a long shot and then 3 more quickly followed to make the score 4 -0 at half time. We gathered ourselves together, made our subs due to knocks and injury's and went out in the second half , heads high and game plan in hand looking for the result. We played simple but affective football and rattled them many times. We were caught short at the back 3 more times and they took their chances well and scored each time. The final whistle went and we all knew the result could have been a whole lot different but we were proud of our effort. James won man of the match for his central defence role. And our captain Arjun is a great role model and leader to all the team. Well done to all the Vs. Performance Rating 6.5 Harrow Youth League Division 4 VENCEREMOS 5-4 LNER YOUTH 'B' The boys were involved in another exciting encounter and got their reward for some excellent football at times. We took an early 2 goal lead courtesy of an own goal and a sweet strike from Leo both from excellent Lewis D crosses. LNER who lost only 2 league games last season fought back scoring twice in quick succession. We re-took the lead with a neat header from Ryan, following up a Lewis D free kick that had struck the bar. We extended our lead after the break with an own goal after good work from Ryan and a smart finish from Lewis D after great work from Josh. Our defending was good after the break superbly marshalled by Ishmael and Lewis M was assured in goal. LNER nonetheless struck twice in the last 10 minutes but time ran out for them and the boys got their league season off to a winning start. Performance Rating 8.5
Harrow Youth League Division 4 TFA TOTTERIDGE 1-3 VENCEREMOS The Vs kept up their unbeaten run with a 3-1 victory over Totteridge. Victory came despite a ragged performance and the scoreline could have been more convincing. The Vs opened the account early in the game after the goalkeeper mistimed a pass with Dylan on hand to slide the ball into the net. Totteridge replied shortly after with the defence split open from a pass within their own half and Troy having little chance to save the shot. Niall scored a great individual goal just after the restart to make it 2-1 after holding off several defenders. The Vs had further chances to finish off the game but the Totteridge goalkeeper was in fine form and even managed to save a penalty from Jordan who struck the ball well. The Vs put the game beyond reach in the last 3 minutes with Jordan clearing the ball deep inside his half to Troy who ran down the left wing to cross the ball to Remy who converted for his fourth goal in two games. Man of the Match - Sami. Performance Rating 6.5 Friendly WEALDSTONE 3-4 VENCEREMOS Both teams contributed to an exciting end to end game that could have gone either way. The V's attacking play was effective with Sam P, Sam K, Daniel & Ben linking up well in the early stages. However Wealdstone took the lead, taking advantage when the midfield forgot their defensive duties and left Kayaan and Krish too exposed at the back. V's bounced back with two quick goals from Daniel, the first from close range after a goal mouth scramble and the second, a super finish latching on to the end of a corner that was pleasing to see. Jacob and Ethan W were introduced in the last 15 minutes of the first half and showed some great composure on the ball. Wealdstone pulled level but the V's kept going and were soon back in the lead courtesy of a great strike from Rikin. Sam K then added a fourth with another low strike in the corner. With five minutes to go Wealdstone pulled a goal back making for a frantic finish but V's held on to claim victory. Performance Rating 7.5 Friendly VENCEREMOS 0-10 GREENFORD CELTIC This first match for the newly formed Reds saw their inexperience exposed by a useful Greenford Celtic team who ran out comfortable winners. The team started brightly and were competitive against opponents whose positional play and passing was superior. Greenford took the lead courtesy of an unfortunate own goal and continued to mount almost continuous attacks. The V's limited forays into the Greenford half were lead by Will who impressed with his dribbling skills, however the team found it difficult to get any clear shots on goal. Greenford scored four more goals in the first half to make it 5-0 at half time. There was hope that with the slope and the breeze in the V's favour they could put Celtic under more pressure in the second half. Although the V's were able to play the ball into their opponents half more frequently and win a couple of corners they were still unable to trouble the keeper. Greenford continued to pass the ball well, finding space in and around the box and scored a further five goals. Mentions firstly to Ethan B and Mahmoud who played a half each in goal and made some good saves, Will for his positive attacking play and although well beaten, the rest of the squad deserve some credit for putting in a lot of effort and never giving up. Performance Rating 6.5
